Do something for me, in terminal put : ifconfig

now tell me if the loopback connection is set as 127.0.0.1

and another thing, its a physical machine or a VM?

- Sutz - 06-25-2013

yea my loopback is 127.0.0.1

I forgot to say, my mysql server is on a spare pc on my home network on 192.168.1.155

Vbox is on my laptop running under 192.168.1.157 an my laptop is 192.168.1.150

Vbox & my laptop can connect to mysql on 192.168.1.155 in Windows navi & linux mysql client

but the lc server fails connection.

LC server & lunix mysql client are on the same vbox image Undecided if one can connect the other should also but it dont.

I have now changed the login username to root without password an still not working but the other two work fine still.

ok, you have something closing the connection/port

Did you disabled iptables and tested?

Also, your configuracion is set correctly?

And another thing, the configuration of the mysql is done correctly?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! i know whats wrong XD

- CyberClaus - 06-25-2013

to disable iptables you issue the following commands : service iptables stop

BUT, do this if you not putting it live

- Sutz - 06-25-2013

yep its just a local test server for me to mess with, totally local setup

ty for the command will test now.

- CyberClaus - 06-25-2013

if even that way doesnt work, then you need to give permissions to the root user

- Sutz - 06-25-2013

nope it didnt work.

if even that way doesnt work, then you need to give permissions to the root user

But doing this connects an i can see my databases from the same vbox lc server is on:
mysql -h 192.168.1.155 -u root
