Hello,

I'd like to know if these companies are suing judicially ppl that are creating their own private server. Also, is there any country that should host our servers without any judicial problem?

Is it legal now? >.>

I have been apart of this section since 2008 run my own servers an seen many many other servers. Never heard of anyone getting sued.

There has been talk about it but never seen it happen, maybe @Wizatek knows something?

The only case I remeber was back in 2011/2012 as the 777 admin got a few problems with Gamigo (They archived locking his PayPal/Paymentwall accounts permanently but failed at getting his identity as far as I remember). Since then I heard nothing about server-related contacts from Gamigo/Barunson.

I also guess that the effort is too high for Gamigo for hunting down small private servers, they would focus first on the big fishes.

If you want to stay on the safe side, pick a hoster that protects your privacy, at best in a country where no lastchaos license is assigned (So you impact no licensee directly). Pay all related bills with anonymous payment methods. Use proxys. Avoid cashing out money in ways somebody could trace you back to your real identity.

Any country and safe host on mind?

I have had some trouble with Barunson, for Laghaim, not for LastChaos.
They made Paymentwall stop working with me for Laghaim.

Aside from that nothing.
Destiny had trouble with Gamigo when they were still Extreme LastChaos and using the Gamigo client.
Also had trouble with the domain, www.extremelastchaos.com was owned by Gamigo eventually because of a lawsuit.

Currently LastChaos doesn't mean that much anymore to Barunson.
No big updates will be made anymore and they will just continue to squeeze every cent out of it.

There main focus at this moment are the several mobile games they developped with HIT being the most popular.
Also Astellia (Project-A) is going on CBT this year.

Similarly Eternia obviously faced major legal threats among other things back during the days of being the only P-server. It was a bit of a back and forth battle with server hosts. They eventually gave up honestly. The majority of the harassment came from Aeria Games and not even Barunson themselves.

I haven't heard of them even going after any LC servers since at least 2012, its obviously still illegal but as Wizatek says they don't give a [CeNsOrEd] about Last Chaos anymore. I think Aeria cared more about the P-server and gave up when LC declined and then sold it to gamigo. I know gamigo went after a couple people but only if you were obviously using something relating to the gamigo client. They too gave up after a certain point.

I wouldn't expect trouble from them at this point in any form. No one cares.
