- cooldude - 10-04-2022 Add falling snow to any map: Since christmas is only 2 months away, I desided to share my discovery on adding falling snow to a map. To do this, you will need 3 elements on the map. We will copy and paste these from STREIANA(canyon). Copy: EnviromentParticlesHolder WorldSettingsController Trigger from STREIANA(canyon) onto the map you want snow drops on. How to copy: 1. Open the map: STREIANA(canyon) in the world editor 2. Press ctrl, shift and A at the same time. This will open the select by description menu 3. Find EnviromentParticlesHolder on the menu and double click on it. 4. Press the ctrl key and c key on your keyboard at the same time to copy. 5. Open the map you want to add snowdrops too. 6. Now position your mouse in the location you want to paste it. Press the ctrl and v on your keyboard at the same time to paste onto the map. 7. Repeat the how to copy process for the WorldSettings Controller, and also the Trigger. However multiple triggers with the same name are on the map. You will need to select the trigger that has 18995 in the ID box on the select by description menu. Also it's coordinates are: x:857.547 y:26, z 710.453 Next we will need to change some settings to make this work. Firstly on the EnviromentParticlesHolder: Slect the EnviromentParticlesHolder on the map you pasted it to. To do this, in the world editor press the E key on your keyboard and then click on the EnviromentParticlesHolder. in the Entity properties window, select Height Map Box. This will need to be adjusted depending on the map size. I would suggest -3000 and 3000 as this should work on most maps. Use this number for x z and y. If that's not enough try -5000 and 5000. Quick Note: When changing numbers using the Entity properties window. Make sure you press enter after typing in the new number to apply it. Next setting is Type(Y). so select it from the properties window, and change it from rain to snow. Slect Particle Texture from the properties window, then click the button with three dots that appears underneath to browse. Navigate to data\Textures\Effects\Particles inside your client folder. Choose Snowdrop.tex. Also change these settings to the following values in the Entity properties window : Drop Speed Scale set to: 0.6 GrowthFfade Frequncy set to: 2 Growth map titles X set to: 1 Growth Map titles Y set to: 1 Groth max. size set to: 20 Groth min. size set to: 1 Groth radius set to: 50 Groth sink factor set to: 0 Particle count set to: 32 particle size scale set to: 0.6 Reander outside box: unchecke snow start duration set to: 20 Win direction X set to:0 Wind direction Z set to: 0 Now on the WorldSettingsController: Slect the WorldsettingsController on the map you pasted it to. To do this click on the WorldsettingsController. Now from the properties window, select EnviromentParticlesHolder. A second dropdown box will appear under the top one, click on the second dropdown box and select the name of your EnviromentParticlesHolder. The name for the one we coppyed is Env. Particles holder. On the Trigger: Slect the Trigger on the map you pasted it to. Now select target 01 (T) from the dropdown menu and set it to Env. Particles holder. Now we have only one thing left to do. We must select the BackgroundViewer for the world we are working on and connect it to our WorldSettingsController. Heres how: 1. First open select by description, by pressing ctrl, shift and A at the same time. 2. Now find BackgroundViewer and double click it 3.Now from the properties window select World settings controller 4. In the 2nd dropbox that you can now see, select the name of your World settings controller. Now save the map and exit the world editor. If all was done correctly you will now have snow falling on your map Enjoy ? |
