Im in need of help..Badly

Ive been stalking this site looking for a good and easy way to start on my server.. but everything seems like i need to download 500 things.. but i dont know which one i need... i need the main program that will get me on my server and ready to edit.. like the main file to get me started. then all the other updates i download and add in.. im new to developing so this is a new experience im just in need of a little help to get me on my way. sorry for the inconvenience
