Thats right, if u barely know anything it can be hard to get started. Tho today there are some starter packs around (check the releases -> server side section) and some tutorials to start from scratch (guides section).
If you are trying to do anything specific, i strongly recommend you to use the search function. Its more than likely than someone already tried aswell, so you will certainly be able to find an answer
