What version to choose and which is less vulnerable

Dear LCKB community! I'm a fresh member that has few questions, Did not knew what forum to choose as this is regarding both last chaos versions so please dont mind me if i post in wrong section!

 

1: Which version to host ep4(aka newer ep3) or ep3

-I'm completely newbie havent developed anything in last chaos nor I ever runned a server but I would like to practise and start too,

 

2: EP4 has no tools yet ? I downloaded the march files but in tools section i'm not aware how to open them or its opening of the files different? would be glad to know if ep4 has tools !

 

3: I know that ep3 has faced dark times with packet editors, any way to avoid it? 

-I think ep3 is easier for newbies as there are lots of tools here but I am also aware of the bad things that came to ep3 so if someone can say whats there to fix I would appreciate!

 

4:the march files of ep4 has it fixed everything ? got a little confused over all the releases in newer ep3 section

First I would suggest you to use EP1 server so you can get a taste. Best way of learning is learn form your mistakes.

If you never developed a server and never had a use of EP3 tools , you can forget about EP4 straight away.

ep4 is best because you can fix the bugs & dupes with the source easy if you ahve knowledge with c++. 

ep4 have tools,server,client with source of all 

 

Ep1 is great & with the right files also nice vs dupes

Ep2 need too crashfree files & must disable some stuff because crash/dupe

Ep3 my opinion is the worse because the encryption is fail (easy to cheat/hack with packet editor etc.)

But ep4 has only the source to tools/other features? no tools as in in ep3? I sadly dont have any knowledge how to do anything from the source. so ep4 would be more safer?
