Buying a Hosting Service and Setting it up....??????

Well i know buying a service hosting service for month or days is not that hard if you have the $$, what i dont know "Exactly" is how to set up the server and everything ,i been searching the entire forum but i havent seen any topic about it. I tried the search function but nothing.

I know this is a bit complicated for you guys to explain to me.

but is there a simple explanation on how hosting services works? the basics ?

All i know service hosting is that they help you have your game online and running right ?

I cant host a server from my pc cuze its actually a "piece of crap" and my internet is crap as well.

 

 

 

Things that bother me:

1.Does my Pc has to be ON all the time so the server up and running ?

2.What happens if i started it like remotely from my pc to the server

what happens if i turn my pc off ? will the server that is hosting it will go offline due to the fact that im managing it from my pc ?

 

Im a bit confused atm, sorry for my lack of knowledge im new on this. I want to learn but i just have no clue where to start on. I know first i have to fix all the bugs, maps,crashing and every errors i get.

 

Atm i manage to log in my server using navichat + xampp , i guess the harder stuff is setting it and making the billing server and soo on.

1. Yes if your hosting it off your computer the computer has to be on in order for the server to be on (quite obvious). If you buy a dedicated host then no you dont have to have your computer on at all for the server to remain up. As its hosted on a different machine entirely.

 

2. If you remote desktop to a dedicated server then nothing will happen if you disconnect, or your computer shuts down. You will simply just disconnect from the remote server. The game server and all that will still remain up.

Thanks SkySin for clearing me that stuff, btw if its not much to ask is there any guides that tells u the best hosting places and steps to make ur server to download off ur website and public for everyone ?

I been here : myhosting.com and the best one is VPS 2008 right ?
