[GUID] Virtual Network "Home Hosting" Linux

ok after a few trys i got it working that my gameserver is listening on my I-net IP but still cant connect to the gameserver thought!

what you need

- winSCP

- Putty

this is actualy for Fedora but its the same to for CentOS

Lets start

Open your WinSPC and connect to your server go into the folder

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts

there you will see

ifcfg-em1 or ifcfg-eth0

also

ifcfg-lo

what we need to do is copy the ifcfg-lo to ifcfg-lo:0

an easy way here

now open Putty

and enter this:

# cp /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo:0

now we need to change the settings in it

DEVICE=lo:0

IPADDR=your ip comes here

NETMASK=255.0.0.0

NETWORK=127.0.0.0

ONBOOT=yes

( i recommend on testing to set "ONBOOT=no" and later change to yes)

alright after changet and saved it restart the network and check

type in putty

# service network restart

something like this should come

Restarting network (via systemctl): [ OK ]

ok after this check if its active

and type in putty

ifconfig

now you can start the gameserver with your external ip

but connecting will not work yet if anyone find out more plz tell i will add it here

and dont ask in this topic how winspc or putty works!

thanks alot i will try to do that

#3

really confusing .. i think hamachi really needs to be installed on the vbox..

so it would work i guess

#4
anyone got a idea how to install lsb 3.0 on centos 6.3

#5
Ive been fighting and fighting with this. If you put your ext. ip in /etc/hosts ( Credits to : LikeToMove ) pointing to your machine you will also be able to make the gameserver bind to your ext ip but, doesnt get connections! I made that with ProXmox, and failed, its actually like you did, but for a container. I keep on studying it, ill post if find something different.

Well, i leave here an option, that is working, altough i dont want this option cause it will make me change my network configuration.

So in your router, you change it to bridge mode! After that you go to your server and configure an dsl conection and fill with your ISP data. Thats it, you have your server with a public ip and access to the internet. Warning : your computer is widely exposed this way, configure a firewall, antivirus, everything you can. Of course, that with this option, you will only have internet access to 1 computer. You can spend a few bucks on another network card and a network cable (crossed) and share the signal of the server to the others computers, but that way every computer would be exposed. As every router is different, i cant post a tutorial of what/how to do. I can just give point in the right direccion. Im going to post a " tutorial " a bit later on how to do this.

Cheers

momently it would be nice if anyone could tell me how to install lsb 3.0 or higher on centos so i could make an tutorial how to do everything with hamachi

#8

yum install lsb

But i really dont know why you insist in hamachi. There are reported issues about windows clients connecting to Hamachi2 linux server... and even making it work, it will lag so hard you will sleep over night to make 1 attack...

#9

well yum install lsb wont work no more mirros to try error

idk why

#10

you have to search the repository then... just google for it

Edit: well, im not going to say nothing this time, just learn how to use google... you asked in 2 posts already about this, even after i told you to use google... Here you have lsb 2

Do you know how much time it took me to find? 5 secs, open the browser, write the search query, click the 2 link and copy the url...
