I just added a return value, and that didn't generate any other problems in the game, these files have been working without problems for over 5 years...

dunno if it was fixed ... but have you tried to open the smc file? sometimes the errors refered at smcs, are not directly linked at smc failure, but what is inside it.

 

Suggest to open it, and checks every bm/ba path
