Yes, these are strong points of use for Linux but in the past I used virtualization and that was bad for me. Currently I must host a Linux machine online for compilation
1) you can install vmware and run a local machine with windows as host (should be the /index.php?/profile/18894-desarija/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="18894" href="/index.php?/profile/18894-desarija/" rel="">@Desarija's vm public on the forum). If you little edit the basic compiler with macro and shortcut is pretty easy to run. (also /index.php?/profile/3911-roseon/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="3911" href="/index.php?/profile/3911-roseon/" rel="">@roseon or /index.php?/profile/2167-dethunter12/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="2167" href="/index.php?/profile/2167-dethunter12/" rel="">@dethunter12 should have published a shell script to install the compiler on virgin vm)
2) online vps/dedicated based on linux servers, cost less than windows platform and are more light
3) no point to go on production with windows except the point where you are using microsoft services
